This week we recapped on the history of radio, starting from the beginning when Marconi set up us the first transmitter and radio station 2MT in Chelmsford in 1922 as a consortium calling themselves the British Broadcasting Company. We also covered constructing and deconstructing radio programmes and listened to a few clips of broadcasts and were asked to make notes as to whether they fell into the category of Radio 1, Radio 2 or Radio 4. Radio 1 style tailored towards the under twenty fives was more upbeat and loud, whereas the radio two forms were almost documentary-like with a phone in and daily topics. The Radio 4 format could be considered to be more play like with gentler voices. We have decided as a group of three to have a Jeremy Vine style show which covers the topic Does Music affect Social class, a documentary-style show with a survey result, combined with an interview and Music. It is still in the early stages, but it should be good once recorded, we are even going to see if the interviewee we use is a bit of a celebrity.
